Dear Friend,

Hello. I’m Congressman Jim Gerlach and I’ve been working hard in Washington to improve the lives of all my constituents living in Berks, Chester, Lehigh and Montgomery Counties.

Since joining the House two years ago, I’ve worked to provide more funding for special education, cast votes protecting our environment, and helped adopt a bipartisan prescription drug plan that provides discounted medication for all seniors and free prescription drugs for millions of our poorest. Also, my legislation establishing a national veterans cemetery in southeastern Pennsylvania was a significant accomplishment. In addition to it being my first bill to become law, it will ensure an idyllic final resting place for millions of veterans right here in the 6th Congressional District.

While traveling throughout the four counties I represent, I’ve had conversations with thousands of farmers, seniors, veterans, police officers, firefighters, teachers and other hardworking men and women about the needs of our region. And the common theme I continue to hear from them is, “Keep working hard and don’t forget where you came from.”

And I never have forgotten. In fact, I’m extremely proud of my Pennsylvania roots and values. I grew up in Ellwood City in western Pennsylvania, a steel town where people worked hard, watched out for each other and strived to make the community better. Those community values were brought right into my home where my mother worked tirelessly in a town bank and insurance agency to provide for my two sisters and me after my father was killed at age 35. It was her work ethic, her grit and her determination to do it on her own that instilled the values of hard work, persistence and family in her three children.

In my 13 years of state and federal legislative service for the people of Chester, Berks, Lehigh and Montgomery Counties, I have applied these values in my effort to improve the lives of our fellow citizens and the quality of life in our wonderful communities.

During my first term in the House, I’ve responded to more than 11,000 constituent inquiries, hosted or attended nearly 400 outreach events in the area, and welcomed nearly 5,200 new residents to the District.

As I campaign for re-election to the United States Congress, I will continue my outreach efforts and look forward to engaging thousands of my fellow citizens in conversations about the future of our area, Pennsylvania, and nation.

Sharing our message with the citizens of the 6th District is very expensive, so if you’re interested in making a financial donation to help offset these costs, you can do so by clicking HERE. Also, we’re always looking for people to help with our reelection efforts, so if you’re interested in volunteering, please call my campaign office 610-458-7374. In the meantime, please enjoy my campaign Web site and I look forward to representing you for another two years.

Sincerely,

Jim Gerlach
